Sonia and Patrick – Durham Castle

We were given the great privilege of photographing Sonia and Patrick’s wedding at one of our all time favorite venue’s, Durham Castle.  Only a few months ago we met them both while photographing Sonia’s sister Angela’s wedding to Kevin, it was wonderful to see all of the family to share a special day with them once again.

Becoming a bit of a trademark of ours, Sonia’s engagement is sitting pretty in Sonia’s gorgeous bouquet of pale pink and lemon roses.

At the Church, Pat is waiting patiently for his bride’s arrival.

A beautiful ceremony was taken…

…and the big moment for Sonia and Patrick, they become man and wife.

Sonia and Pat walk proudly down the aisle as the new Mr and Mrs Cheung.

A shower of confetti greets them as they leave the church enjoying a few moments to greet their guests before heading off to Durham Castle for their wedding reception and breakfast.

With the season turning to Autumn on this warm September day, we are treated to the rich colours that autumn brings within this picture of the Keep

sonia-and-patrick-15

a Mid afternoon shot of the cathedral, shot right into the sun creating a very arty silhouette.

sonia-and-patrick-16

Sonia, Pat, Nige and I head off to Prebends Bridge, just a few minutes walk from the Castle and Cathedral for some relaxed, intimate shots of the two of them.  In actual fact, Nigel and I chose for our own wedding portraits to be taken on this brigde over 18 months ago.  A lovely casual stroll down the bridge provided us with some gorgeous pictures…

sonia-and-patrick-18

…however how could we not include the Cathedral in at least one picture, here it is, proudly sitting in the trees behind them.

sonia-and-patrick-20

sonia-and-patrick-21

A few more pictures taken on the bridge as we begin to walk back to the Castle…

sonia-and-patrick-22

…stopping for a moment for a kiss.

sonia-and-patrick-23

Doing their portraits first meant that it gave Sonia and Pat’s guests time to arrive before Nige and I quickly set up a shot of the wedding guests on the magnificent entrance steps.

sonia-and-patrick-24

After a few more groups, we take some arty shots of the lads seated on the steps with the castle towering above them…

sonia-and-patrick-24b

and one a little more ‘normal’

sonia-and-patrick-26

Pat looks very sophisticated as we grab this picture.

sonia-and-patrick-25

Sonia and Pat stand for a great shot infront of the main entrance to the castle…

sonia-and-patrick-28

…and the same again, only a little more dramatic including the towering castle and that moody sky above them

sonia-and-patrick-29

Sonia looked a vision in her beautiful Pronovias dress.

sonia-and-patrick-30

There’s always time for some natural shots of guests, here this one sets the scene.

sonia-and-patrick-31

I quickly pop into the Great hall to grab some shots of the room layout,  love this room, fabulous.

sonia-and-patrick-32

Smaller details on the tables are also not forgotten.

sonia-and-patrick-33

The cake sits in the middle of the room for all to see.

sonia-and-patrick-34

Sonia and Pat enter the room and are greeted with a round of applause.

sonia-and-patrick-35

Pat gives his heartfelt speach to their guests…

sonia-and-patrick-36

…as they listen on.

sonia-and-patrick-37

sonia-and-patrick-38

Giving his thanks to his beautiful bride.

sonia-and-patrick-39

Now time for the best man’s moment.

sonia-and-patrick-40

Later, downstairs in the under croft, guests enjoy a few beers.

sonia-and-patrick-41

We take Sonia and Pat away for a few more minutes to enjoy taking  a few more pictures within this gorgeous castle, here on the black staircase…

sonia-and-patrick-42

…with time for one or two outside.

sonia-and-patrick-43

We ended the day with them shortly after their first dance in the great hall.  Congratulations Sonia and Pat, it truly was a pleasure to be there with you on your special day.

sophie-and-paul-24

The garter suite with it’s beautiful wall mouldings, character windows and high ceilings looked great all dressed up for the wedding breakfast.

sophie-and-paul-25

Personal touches were left on the tables as keepsakes for the guests.

sophie-and-paul-26

An elegant wedding cake sat in the corner  the room

sophie-and-paul-27

An over the moon Paul enters the room with his bride and pauses a moment to show off their marriage certificate which was met with applause.

sophie-and-paul-28

During the speeches, Paul takes a moment to compliment his bride…

sophie-and-paul-29

…while guests watch on.

sophie-and-paul-30

sophie-and-paul-31

The wedding breakfast moves swiftly into the evening reception.  Sophie and Paul chose to replace the traditional first dance with a much more fun Céilidh.  Very suited to this fun loving couple.

sophie-and-paul-33

They arranged the Angels of the North, traditional Céilidh group for the evening.  If you are looking for one for your own wedding, here is a link to their site - http://www.angelsofthenorth.org/

sophie-and-paul-32

Although instructions were given, this fella clearly didn’t grasp it at first!

sophie-and-paul-34

Congratulations Sophie and Paul, it was a great pleasure to photograph your big day and we enjoyed every minute.  See you at Amy’s wedding later in the year.

Sibiohan and David – Grinkle Park

Sibiohan and David chose to marry in the gorgeous St Mark’s Church in Marske by the Sea near Guisborough, going on to Grinkle Park situated between the North Yorkshire Moors and the North East coast for their fabulous wedding reception

225

We start the day with a few caught moments with the girls at Sibiohan’s Nana’s house

The stunning bride

Sibiohan and her dad, Paul arrive at the church in perfect time.

They shared their vows and were man and wife…

…and an extremely happy couple walk down the aisle.

155

A bridal car whisks them off to Grinkle Park

125

A beautiful sunny September day, Sibiohan and Dave take a walk together through the grounds.

135

Nige and I find this gorgeous window and have to use it for a photograph, Sibiohan looks just lovely.

146

While Nige is mingling with guests, I find a group of young lads and create a new game, a race to see who can get to me first… after not too long and nearly being trampled by a herd of young boys I realise that such a game was not a good idea after all, got some great shots though.

105

A room ready for a wedding breakfast.

118

I loved the table plan, tags hanging from a little tree.

95

A little message from Sibiohan to her groom waits on his table place.

85

A beautiful cake, or cakes I should say.  Thank you Sibiohan and Dave for ours.

Best man Chris stands and makes his speech to the onlooking crowd of guests.

The lads spend some time after their big feed to play a game of snooker or two…

…and I take the time to catch this shot of two beautiful bridesmaids sitting on the lawns.

ds-3

The dancing begins…

d-s2

…with music played by the fab Beatle Maniac’s.  We have heard a fair few Beatles tribute acts in our time, and these guys are easily one of the best we have come across, Liverpudlian accent and everything.  If you are thinking about hiring a Beatles tribute band, take a look at their site  www.beatlemaniacsonline.com

d-s-1

Sibiohan and Dave added a casino to the evenings proceedings as a little surprise for their guests.

0dave

Congratulations Sibiohan and Dave, and we’ll see you both soon.
