We were given the great privilege of photographing Sonia and Patrick’s wedding at one of our all time favorite venue’s, Durham Castle. Only a few months ago we met them both while photographing Sonia’s sister Angela’s wedding to Kevin, it was wonderful to see all of the family to share a special day with them once again.
Becoming a bit of a trademark of ours, Sonia’s engagement is sitting pretty in Sonia’s gorgeous bouquet of pale pink and lemon roses.
At the Church, Pat is waiting patiently for his bride’s arrival.
A beautiful ceremony was taken…
…and the big moment for Sonia and Patrick, they become man and wife.
Little Gabe, Angela and Kevin’s new little one sleeps soundly during the service
Sonia and Pat walk proudly down the aisle as the new Mr and Mrs Cheung.
A shower of confetti greets them as they leave the church enjoying a few moments to greet their guests before heading off to Durham Castle for their wedding reception and breakfast.
With the season turning to Autumn on this warm September day, we are treated to the rich colours that autumn brings within this picture of the Keep
a Mid afternoon shot of the cathedral, shot right into the sun creating a very arty silhouette.
Sonia, Pat, Nige and I head off to Prebends Bridge, just a few minutes walk from the Castle and Cathedral for some relaxed, intimate shots of the two of them. In actual fact, Nigel and I chose for our own wedding portraits to be taken on this brigde over 18 months ago. A lovely casual stroll down the bridge provided us with some gorgeous pictures…
…however how could we not include the Cathedral in at least one picture, here it is, proudly sitting in the trees behind them.
A few more pictures taken on the bridge as we begin to walk back to the Castle…
…stopping for a moment for a kiss.
Doing their portraits first meant that it gave Sonia and Pat’s guests time to arrive before Nige and I quickly set up a shot of the wedding guests on the magnificent entrance steps.
After a few more groups, we take some arty shots of the lads seated on the steps with the castle towering above them…
and one a little more ‘normal’
Pat looks very sophisticated as we grab this picture.

…and the same again, only a little more dramatic including the towering castle and that moody sky above them
Sonia looked a vision in her beautiful Pronovias dress.
There’s always time for some natural shots of guests, here this one sets the scene.
I quickly pop into the Great hall to grab some shots of the room layout, love this room, fabulous.
Smaller details on the tables are also not forgotten.
The cake sits in the middle of the room for all to see.
Sonia and Pat enter the room and are greeted with a round of applause.
Pat gives his heartfelt speach to their guests…
…as they listen on.
Giving his thanks to his beautiful bride.
Now time for the best man’s moment.
Later, downstairs in the under croft, guests enjoy a few beers.
We take Sonia and Pat away for a few more minutes to enjoy taking a few more pictures within this gorgeous castle, here on the black staircase…
…with time for one or two outside.
We ended the day with them shortly after their first dance in the great hall. Congratulations Sonia and Pat, it truly was a pleasure to be there with you on your special day.

Sophie and Paul – Lumley Castle
Today we spend the day celebrating with Sophie and Paul on their wedding day. They chose to be married in St Helen’s Church in Low Fell, Gateshead, going on to Lumley Castle in Chester-le-Street.
Simple ivory details through out made a very elegant theme for the day.
Sophie looked gorgeous.
Paul watched the procession down the aisle, waiting for the first glimpse of his bride.
They exchanged rings and were married.
A great shot of there shear happiness as they walk down the aisle as man and wife
They are greeted as they exit the church by their friend and family who throw confetti in spectacular fashion.
A wonderful close up shot showing the emotion on Paul’s face as he greets his good friend.

Time to head off to Lumley castle,
They are whisked off to the castle only after we get this great shot of Sophie and Paul waving to guests as they leave.
Our beautiful bride stands for a moment for a bridal portrait moments after we arrived at the castle.
Paul joins her, a few romantic moments are caught on camera.
Guests enjoy arrival drinks in the courtyard.
We take our happy couple off for a few minutes to get a few more pictures using the castle as our backdrop.
Sophie tells us this was her ‘hen night pose!’
The garter suite with it’s beautiful wall mouldings, character windows and high ceilings looked great all dressed up for the wedding breakfast.
Personal touches were left on the tables as keepsakes for the guests.

An over the moon Paul enters the room with his bride and pauses a moment to show off their marriage certificate which was met with applause.
During the speeches, Paul takes a moment to compliment his bride…
…while guests watch on.
The wedding breakfast moves swiftly into the evening reception. Sophie and Paul chose to replace the traditional first dance with a much more fun Céilidh. Very suited to this fun loving couple.

Leena and Noel – Lumley Castle
Leena and Noel chose Lumley Castle in Chester-le-Street as the venue for their wedding ceremony and celebrations
We start the day shortly before the wedding ceremony, we catch some quick shots of the rings and bouquet and take our places to wait for the arrival of the bride.
Noel, waiting for his bride, with a huge smile fixed on his face.
Standing together at the end of the aisle, their guests watch on as they give their vows.
A moment and a kiss later and they were man and wife.
Noel and Leena’s grown up children sit for us for this great picture.
A shower of confetti congratulates them on their marriage.
We whisk the newly-weds away from their guests for a few minutes for a few pictures of the two of them together around the castle.
They enjoy a quiet moment alone together.
The Scarborough suite looks great set out for an intimate wedding breakfast for their closest family and friends.
Leena’s Danish roots inspire this traditional (and rather tasty) Danish wedding cake, the flags on the cake were a very nice touch.
They share their first dance as husband and wife in the Castle’s Baron’s Hall…
…and the party commences.

Sibiohan and David chose to marry in the gorgeous St Mark’s Church in Marske by the Sea near Guisborough, going on to Grinkle Park situated between the North Yorkshire Moors and the North East coast for their fabulous wedding reception

A beautiful sunny September day, Sibiohan and Dave take a walk together through the grounds.
Nige and I find this gorgeous window and have to use it for a photograph, Sibiohan looks just lovely.
While Nige is mingling with guests, I find a group of young lads and create a new game, a race to see who can get to me first… after not too long and nearly being trampled by a herd of young boys I realise that such a game was not a good idea after all, got some great shots though.

…with music played by the fab Beatle Maniac’s. We have heard a fair few Beatles tribute acts in our time, and these guys are easily one of the best we have come across, Liverpudlian accent and everything.
